At Bangkok Investigators, we are frequently asked by our clients about conducting thorough background checks in Thailand, especially when it comes to financial matters like credit scores and debts. Two very common enquiries we receive are:

  • Can you check a credit score in Thailand?
  • Can you check if someone has debts in Thailand?

Can You Check Your Own Credit Score in Thailand?

Yes, it is possible to check your own credit score in Thailand. One of the most convenient methods is to use your Thai banking app. Many major banks offer a credit report request feature directly within their mobile apps, allowing you to access your score easily. Typically, this service costs around 150 THB, and you will receive your report within a few business days via email.

Alternatively, you can request a credit report through your bank by visiting a branch. This service also costs around 150 THB. The bank will facilitate a connection to the National Credit Bureau (NCB), and you will usually receive your report within a week.

Can You Check Someone Else’s Credit Score in Thailand?

The straightforward answer is no, you cannot check someone else’s credit score. In Thailand, credit scores are strictly confidential and can only be accessed by the individual themselves or with their explicit consent.

Even though you can easily check your own credit score via a banking app or at a branch, checking someone else’s score requires them to personally authorise it. Typically, this involves the individual enquiring at their bank, or completing loan paperwork, and undergoing a KYC (Know Your Customer) process to authorise the financial institution to access their credit information.

As a private investigation agency, we do not have access to this confidential banking information, nor can we legally request it. Such private financial details are strictly protected under Thai privacy laws and banking regulations.

Can You Check if Someone Has Debts in Thailand?

Again, the answer is no, we cannot check personal debt*. Debt is very common in Thailand, including personal loans, household debts, and cash loans secured against properties, farmland, or homes, especially in rural and agricultural regions.

Despite how widespread personal debt may be, detailed records of someone's debts remain confidential and are inaccessible to private investigators.

*However, there is one specific debt-related check we can perform—checking vehicle finance. If you provide us with a clear photograph of the licence plate, we can determine if the vehicle has outstanding finance or is under a hire-purchase agreement. You can find further details on our vehicle check page.

What Can You Check?

  • Identity verification (photo, name, age, gender, home address)
  • Fraud, scam, and blacklist checks
  • Marital checks (current marital status, marriage/divorce history)
  • Household checks (other registered residents at the subject's address—family, children, partner)
  • Social media activity and background checks
  • Criminal record checks and active arrest warrants
  • Employment history verification
  • Litigation and court record checks
  • OSINT checks for use of dating sites or dating apps
  • Commercial holdings and company directorship checks
  • Surveillance services for lifestyle and movement verification (additional fees apply depending on case location)

What We CANNOT Check

  • We cannot hack or illegally access phones or social media accounts—this is strictly prohibited and illegal.
  • We cannot check someone's credit score or personal debts.
  • We cannot access personal bank account information.
